What GEO Is, and Where You Stand
GEO runs on different signals than regular Google SEO.
Google ranks blue links. AI engines pick which sentences to quote in an answer. What wins a quote: a direct answer near the top of the page, real evidence (numbers, named sources, first-party facts), machine-readable schema, and letting AI crawlers in. One thing actively hurts: keyword stuffing. So this whole effort is about adding real signals, never faking them.
As of today, verityagentic.ai's GEO foundation is solid. On the audit that covered this pass, the site moved from roughly 55 to the mid-80s. The on-site work is essentially done. The remaining lift is off-site, and that part needs you.
Done: the Foundation and the 30-Day On-Site Pass
All of this is live and validated (validator GREEN across every page, two runs):
| Signal | What's live now |
|---|---|
| AI-crawler access | robots.txt explicitly welcomes GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, and the rest. Cloudflare confirmed not blocking them at the edge. |
| llms.txt | A full content map at the site root: what you do, your case studies, cornerstone guides, and real pricing, so an AI reading one file gets the whole picture. |
| Entity schema | The homepage now describes Verity Agentic and Annette Thompson as linked entities, with your real credentials and a sameAs link to annettethompson.com. This is what an AI reads to answer "who is Annette Thompson." |
| FAQ schema | The homepage and pricing page carry visible FAQs backed by FAQPage schema, so AI can pull straight answers to what you do, who you are, and what it costs. |
| Article identity + freshness | All 26 articles now name you as the author (with a sameAs link) and carry a dateModified freshness stamp. Freshness is one of the biggest citation multipliers. |
| Cornerstone front-loads + FAQs | The four highest-value articles (costs, when-not-to-hire, DIY-vs-consultant, first-project) now open with a 40-to-60-word direct answer and close with a schema-backed FAQ. These are your best "AI asks a question" targets. |
| Pricing Offer schema | All five tiers, from the free audit to the retainer, are machine-readable with real prices. |
Next: 60 Days, Off-Site Authority (Needs You)
The on-site signals are close to maxed. AI engines also weigh who vouches for you off your own site. In priority order:
1. A real LinkedIn, then link it into your schema
An active LinkedIn profile is the single strongest author-identity signal you can add. The moment it exists, tell me the URL and I'll add it to your sameAs everywhere on the site. About 30 minutes of your time, 2 of mine.
2. A Wikidata entry
ChatGPT cites Wikipedia in roughly 48% of its top citations, and Wikidata is the structured feed behind it. A simple, sourced Wikidata item for Verity Agentic and for you punches well above its weight. Say the word and I'll draft it for your review.
3. One guest post or podcast
One or two mentions in places AI engines already trust (industry press, a known small-business or AI podcast) does more for citation than anything left to do on-site. This is the outreach you parked in Q1. For GEO, it's the highest-leverage off-site move. When you're ready, I'll build a target list and draft the pitches.
4. A Reddit presence under your name
Gemini leans on Reddit and Quora for advice questions. A handful of genuinely helpful comments in r/smallbusiness, r/Entrepreneur, or r/AI_Agents (named account, no spam) can start showing up in answers.
5. One piece of original data
Perplexity disproportionately cites first-party data. Something like "what I found auditing a dozen small-business workflows" becomes the only citable source for that claim, which is exactly what gets quoted.
Then: 90 Days, Per-Engine Cheat Sheet
The engines don't cite the same sources. Rough overlap between them is low, so it pays to know what each one rewards.
| Engine | What it rewards | Your move |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Wikipedia (about 48% of its citations) and reputable coverage | Wikidata entry plus a guest mention or two |
| Perplexity | Freshness (pages updated within 90 days) and original data | Keep cornerstone pages current; publish first-party data |
| Gemini | Reddit and Quora for advice queries, plus Google's top 10 | Named Reddit presence; keep SEO indexing healthy |
| Claude | Long-form, well-cited writing with methodology and limits stated | Your articles already fit this; keep citing real sources |
| Google AI Overviews | Featured snippets and schema, but only for pages already ranking in the top 10 | You have the schema; the gap is getting indexed and ranking, which is the SEO track |
Notice the pattern: three of the five (Gemini, AI Overviews, and part of ChatGPT) still lean on ordinary Google ranking. So the traffic and indexing work we talked about earlier isn't separate from GEO; it feeds it.
How to Measure It (Don't Skip This)
GEO without measurement is a guess.
The simple version, once a month: I run a fixed set of questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, and log whether you show up.
5 brand queries
- What is Verity Agentic?
- Who is Annette Thompson, the AI consultant?
- How much does Verity Agentic charge?
- Is Verity Agentic any good?
- Who should I hire to automate my small business with AI?
5 category queries
- Best AI consultant for a small business
- AI automation for solopreneurs
- How much does AI consulting cost in 2026?
- Should I hire an AI consultant or do it myself?
- AI consultant vs freelancer
For each answer I log three things: cited or not, where in the answer you landed, and whether the mention was positive. Track that monthly and the trend tells you whether the off-site work is landing. Say the word and I'll set this up as a standing monthly check.
The Short List That Needs You
- LinkedIn (about 30 minutes): create or refresh your profile, then send me the URL. I'll wire it into your schema everywhere the same day.
- Wikidata: just say "draft the Wikidata entry" and I'll write it from your real, sourced facts for you to approve.
- One podcast or guest post: the off-site move that matters most. When you're ready, I'll build the target list and write the pitches.
- Optional, ongoing: a Reddit account under your name for the occasional genuinely helpful answer.
Everything on the on-site side is done and verified. The next real jump in AI citations comes from that first item and the guest mention. Neither takes much time; they just take you.
