What Colorado Firms Charge After an SEO Audit

Post-audit pricing benchmarks, Colorado-first  ·  Compiled 2026-06-11

🎯

What This Maps

Purpose. Map what real firms charge for the step after an audit, i.e. the implementation/engagement that actually fixes and grows a local business's search visibility. Colorado-first (Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins), with US benchmarks for context. Every price is cited to a named source. Where a firm hides pricing, it's marked "not public" with the model noted.

What we sell (the comparison frame). Local SEO + Google Business Profile / Map Pack, technical SEO, schema, content, citations/listings, review growth, and the newer AI search visibility (GEO / AEO, getting cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews). We don't do PPC or social-media graphics. Target clients: local service businesses and medical / med-spa / dermatology practices.

1. Colorado Local-SEO / Digital-Marketing Firms

Boulder SEO Marketing (Boulder, with Denver / Fort Collins / Colorado Springs offices)

This is the closest direct competitor, and they already sell GEO. Three transparent monthly tiers, each priced by dedicated hours, every tier includes the same core stack:

  • $2,000/mo (about 18 to 22 hours): custom AI agent, GEO/AI optimization (llms.txt, full-text llms.txt, FAQ structure), technical SEO, GBP audit + ongoing optimization, expert-quote placements via Featured.com, monthly reporting. Content: 1 to 2 content pieces/mo, 1 to 2 press releases/mo, 5 to 10 social posts/mo, 1 to 2 LinkedIn articles/mo.
  • $3,000/mo (about 28 to 32 hours): same stack, 2 to 3 content pieces, 2 to 3 press releases, 10 to 15 social posts, 2 to 3 LinkedIn articles.
  • $4,000/mo (about 38 to 42 hours): same stack, 3 to 4 content pieces, 3 to 4 press releases, 15 to 20 social posts.

Model: retainer, no public contract minimum stated. Source: Boulder SEO Marketing pricing. Their costs guide pegs the Colorado norm at $2,000 to $4,000/mo: SEO Costs guide.

COSEOCO / Colorado SEO Company (Castle Rock, CO)

Custom-quoted after a free discovery call. Stated Colorado range: local SEO from $500 to $1,500/mo; competitive/statewide $2,000 to $5,000/mo. Packages are "modular and scalable": technical audits + on-page, keyword research + content strategy, local SEO (GBP, citations), link building + outreach, monthly reporting + strategy calls, plus AI-enhanced/semantic optimization for advanced clients. Model: retainer, custom. Pricing tiers themselves are not public (range only). Source: COSEOCO pricing.

Digital Marketing Services (Kristian Kreaktive, Colorado Springs freelancer)

Publishes the most granular Colorado-Springs-specific bands by competition level:

  • Low competition: $800 to $1,200/mo = technical audit, on-page, GBP management, basic citation building, monthly reporting.
  • Moderate (home/professional services): $1,200 to $2,000/mo = above plus 4 to 6 articles/mo, local link building, review strategy, citation management, bi-weekly calls.
  • High competition (healthcare, legal): $2,000+/mo = aggressive content (4 to 8 articles/mo), link building, competitor monitoring, expanded service-area targeting.

By city: Denver $2.8k to $5.5k/mo, Colorado Springs $1.5k to $2.8k/mo, Boulder $1k to $2.5k/mo, Fort Collins $800 to $1.5k/mo, Pueblo $800 to $1.5k/mo. Model: retainer. Source: Colorado Springs SEO packages.

Code Synap (Denver)

Doesn't publish a rate card, but documents what $2,000/mo buys in Denver over six months: month 1 to 2 technical audit + site fixes + keyword mapping + on-page; month 3 to 4 citation building + GBP optimization + first content; month 5 to 6 rankings move. Model: retainer (illustrative, not productized). Source: Code Synap Denver SEO cost.

2. GEO / AI-Search-Visibility Specialists

This lane has the widest spread and the least public pricing. The most-cited 2026 breakdown:

  • Freelance / gig: $150 to $2,000 (project) for single-page optimization, FAQ structuring, basic schema.
  • Productized packages: $500 to $2,500/mo for template-based AI-visibility work, limited customization.
  • Mid-market retainers: $2,000 to $8,000/mo for active monitoring, content optimization, entity work.
  • Enterprise programs: $10,000 to $30,000+/mo for full multi-AI campaigns, digital PR, deep reporting.

The honest center of gravity: credible mid-market GEO/AEO retainers land $2,000 to $10,000/mo. Sub-$99/mo "AI search" subscriptions are baseline SEO with AI-flavored marketing, not real GEO. Source: Digital Elevator AEO/GEO pricing guide.

Broader corroboration: GEO runs $10 to $1,000+/mo for DIY tools and $1,500 to $50,000+/mo for agency services; entry programs about $1,000 to $2,500, enterprise $10,000 to $25,000+; project/sprint audits and implementation commonly $5,000 to $15,000. Source: WebFX GEO cost. Additional sources: RevvGrowth GEO agency pricing, Gigawatt Group GEO/AEO models, Stackmatix AEO pricing.

The most important Colorado finding: Boulder SEO Marketing has already folded GEO into its core $2,000 to $4,000/mo retainers (see section 1). So in our home market, GEO isn't a separate premium line item yet, it's bundled. That's both a threat (the local leader already claims the GEO story) and an opening (most other Colorado firms still don't mention it).

3. Medical / Med-Spa / Dermatology-Niche SEO

Our wedge: Evolution Dermatology.

  • The Med Spa Agency: most med spas spend $2,200 to $6,500/mo; plans include content, backlinks, GBP management, technical cleanup, review systems, and CRO; results in 2 to 3 months, major gains months 5 to 7. Model: retainer, custom. Source: Med Spa Agency pricing.
  • PatientGain: productized healthcare tiers, $999/mo to $1,999/mo, with a Platinum-Plus band at $1,699/mo to $2,499/mo; high-quality content, responsive design, local SEO, technical optimization, AI/AIO for healthcare. Model: retainer, published. Source: PatientGain MedSpa SEO.
  • MedSpa SEO Agency: starts at $500/mo, local-med-spa-only positioning. Source: MedSpaSEOAgency.com.
  • Market synthesis: specialized med-spa SEO agencies generally charge $1,000 to $5,000/mo; most spas spend $2,200 to $6,500/mo. Components are the standard local stack: GBP optimization, location keywords, NAP consistency across directories, citation building, reviews management. Sources: Wowbix best med-spa SEO agencies, Studio 3 Marketing med-spa SEO, NexaMed medspa SEO.

Takeaway: derm/med-spa carries a premium over generic local SEO. The floor is around $1,000/mo (productized), the realistic working band is $2,200 to $6,500/mo, and almost all of it is retainer, not project.

📊

4. Pricing-Model Patterns (Synthesis)

Monthly retainer bands for local SEO (Colorado-weighted):

  • Low / foundational ($800 to $1,500/mo): technical audit + fixes, on-page, GBP management, basic citations, monthly reporting. Fits low-competition niches and smaller markets (Fort Collins, Pueblo, Boulder low end).
  • Mid / growth ($1,500 to $3,000/mo): all of the above plus 4 to 6 content pieces/mo, local link building, review strategy, citation management, bi-weekly or monthly strategy calls. Where most Colorado small businesses land.
  • High / aggressive ($3,000 to $5,500/mo): heavy content, ongoing link acquisition, competitor monitoring, multi-location / expanded service-area work. Denver-competitive industries (healthcare, legal, home services).

One-time project / sprint pricing: standalone SEO projects and technical sprints exist but are far less common than retainers locally. The clearest project numbers come from the GEO lane: freelance projects $150 to $2,000, and GEO/AEO audit-plus-implementation sprints $5,000 to $15,000 (WebFX).

How the audit itself is priced: dominant pattern is a free audit / free discovery call as the lead magnet (COSEOCO, Boulder SEO Marketing, Code Synap, Digital Marketing Services all gate the engagement behind a free consult, not a paid audit). Paid standalone audits exist but are the exception in this local market. Most firms redact or summarize audit findings into a proposal rather than handing over the full deliverable, which is consistent with a free-but-gated model. Note one nuance: GEO guides warn that meaningful AI-citation dashboards and prompt-level tracking are the signal of real work, so a redacted audit that previews real findings is credible, a vague one is not.

Hourly rates: entry hourly starts around $100/hr in Colorado; agencies more often price by retainer hours (Boulder SEO Marketing literally sells "18 to 22 / 28 to 32 / 38 to 42 hours per month"). Sources: Colorado Springs SEO packages, Boulder SEO Marketing pricing.

Contract lengths: rarely posted publicly. Industry norm for SEO is a 3-to-6-month minimum (because results take 2 to 4 months to show, per Code Synap and Med Spa Agency timelines), with 12-month terms common at the higher end. No Colorado firm in this set publishes a hard minimum, which itself is a finding: contract terms are negotiated, not advertised.

6. Implications for SEO Believer

The market supports a free-redacted-audit + paid-implementation model cleanly, because that's already the dominant Colorado pattern: nearly every named firm gates the work behind a free audit or discovery call, summarizes findings into a proposal, and sells a monthly retainer. Where our internal ladder gets interesting is the steps between free audit and ongoing retainer.

Honest read on our current ladder (free audit → ~$1,800 audit → ~$4,500 sprint → ~$9,500 blueprint → ~$1,500/mo monitoring → ~$18,000 buildout):

  • Free audit: fully market-standard. Keep it.
  • ~$1,800 paid audit: defensible but slightly against the grain locally, where audits are usually free. It works only if the deliverable is visibly deeper than a competitor's free consult (real AI-citation data, prompt-level testing, a genuine fix list). Position it as a paid diagnostic that credits toward the engagement, or it'll read as charging for what others give away.
  • ~$4,500 sprint: well-supported. This lands right inside the GEO/AEO project band ($5,000 to $15,000 nationally, lower for a solo) and inside the high local retainer band. Competitive and defensible, arguably a touch low for what a GEO-inclusive sprint delivers.
  • ~$9,500 blueprint: supported as a one-time strategic/implementation project; it's under the national GEO project ceiling ($15,000) and reads as premium-but-reasonable for a derm/med-spa client who'd otherwise pay $2,200 to $6,500/mo for 6+ months.
  • ~$1,500/mo monitoring: competitive. It sits at the low/foundational retainer floor and just under the productized-GEO band ($500 to $2,500/mo). For ongoing AI-citation monitoring plus light maintenance, that's a fair, sticky number.
  • ~$18,000 buildout: the one to defend carefully. As a one-time number it's roughly 3 to 4 months of a high-end retainer compressed into a project, which is justifiable for a full build, but it's well above any single Colorado competitor's posted project price, so it needs a concrete, itemized scope (new site or major rebuild, full schema, content library, citation foundation, GEO setup) to not feel like an outlier.

Where the first paid step should land. For a solo-led, AI-assisted Boulder consultancy, the most competitive and defensible first paid step is a fixed-scope implementation sprint in the $3,000 to $5,500 range (our ~$4,500 sprint fits perfectly), bundling: technical fixes, schema/structured data, GBP / Map Pack optimization, an initial citation set, 2 to 4 cornerstone content pieces, and GEO setup (llms.txt, FAQ structuring, entity work). That bundle directly out-features the typical $2,000/mo local retainer's first two months, and it leans into the one thing most Colorado competitors still don't sell explicitly: getting cited by AI. The AI-assisted cost structure lets us deliver that sprint's scope at a price a traditional agency would need a 3-month retainer to cover, which is the real wedge. The standing risk: Boulder SEO Marketing already owns the local "we do GEO" story, so our differentiation has to be the scientific/measurable angle (real AI-citation tracking, before/after proof) rather than the GEO label itself.
