Does any WordPress recipe plugin have more features than WP Recipe Maker?
Short answer: no. In the WordPress plugin field, nothing beats WP Recipe Maker (WPRM) on overall feature breadth. It has the widest free tier, the deepest paid add-on stack, the most grocery/monetization integrations, the biggest install base (50,000+ vs low-thousands for rivals), and the fastest update cadence (every 2–4 weeks). A couple of free plugins are impressively generous, and one paid plugin is a genuine peer, but none exceed WPRM.
The real opening isn't inside WordPress at all. Three features every one of these plugins lacks (social/video recipe capture, hands-free voice cooking, one-click diet conversion) are exactly the whitespace RecipeMemoir is built for. Details in section 3.

Confidence: HIGH for WPRM, WP Delicious, WP Ultimate Recipe (verified against wordpress.org + vendor docs). MEDIUM for Tasty Recipes and Create (hand-verified via search, install counts approximate). The auto fact-check refuted a bad Tasty Recipes pricing claim, so I re-checked it directly: $49/yr with a free Lite version is current.
2. Why WPRM keeps winning
- Free tier does what rivals charge for. Full JSON-LD schema, Guided Recipes, AMP, Pinterest Rich Pins, and even shoppable ingredients ship free.
- Deepest paid stack. Nutrition API, unit conversion, recipe submissions, favorites + meal planning, WooCommerce ingredient sales, and AI Smart Paste import, layered across three price tiers.
- Most money-making integrations. Instacart (works even on membership-gated sites), Walmart, Chicory in-recipe ads, WooCommerce, Amazon. This is where competitors visibly fall behind.
- Migration moat. Imports from ~19 other plugins plus the Paprika app, roughly double the next plugin's importer list. It's designed to absorb everyone else's users.
- Healthiest maintenance. v10.7.1, tested to WordPress 7.0.2, updated ~every 2–4 weeks, ~5.0 rating. Most rivals update far less often.
3. The gaps NONE of them fill (this is the opening)
Every plugin above is a recipe card printer with SEO. Three capabilities are missing across the entire category, and they already exist in AI-era consumer recipe apps (e.g. RecipeForLater), which proves they're buildable and wanted:
- Capture from social/video. Paste a YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook cooking video and get a structured recipe. No WP plugin does this. WPRM's AI Smart Paste only handles pasted text.
- Hands-free voice cooking mode. "Say Next / Back," ask for an ingredient out loud. WPRM's Cook Mode only keeps the screen awake, it doesn't listen.
- One-click diet conversion. Turn an existing recipe Keto / Vegan / Gluten-Free with smart ingredient substitutions. Several plugins generate new recipes from AI prompts; none convert the recipes you already have.
Confidence: MEDIUM (the gap list leans on the consumer app's marketing, not hands-on testing). But it maps almost exactly onto RecipeMemoir's own archived roadmap: video capture, voice cooking mode, dietary-restriction-first UX. The lesson isn't "build a better WordPress plugin," it's that WPRM already won that category, and the unserved features sit in a different product shape, a standalone app that owns the recipes rather than a plugin bolted onto someone's ad-funded blog.
4. Honest caveats
- Most feature facts come from vendor pages, fine for "what does it offer," but untested in practice.
- Install counts and pricing are July 2026 snapshots and drift fast. WPRM's $49 Premium figure came from third-party corroboration, not a directly quoted vendor row, so re-check before quoting.
- Tasty Recipes, Create, Recipe Card Blocks, Zip Recipes, Cooked, and Simple Recipe Pro were profiled more thinly than WPRM and WP Delicious. "Nothing exceeds WPRM" is strongly proven for the latter two and inferentially solid for the rest (WPRM imports from most of them; one concedes inferiority on its own blog).
- A caution worth carrying: Google killed its Guided Recipes voice feature, so voice/shoppable features can churn fast. Build the gap-filling features on owned surfaces, not on a single platform's whim.
