RecipeMemoir · Feature Spec v2
The Keeper Features- Synthesized
Annette ran a 7-model ideation sprint on RecipeMemoir and curated the approved ideas. This spec takes everything that passed the cut, collapses duplicate proposals across models into single entries, and organizes them into 10 functional groups. Each feature has a sequential number you can reference directly (e.g. "move #3 to v1"). Numbers run continuously across all groups. Nothing rejected is in here.
All 51 Features: Quick Reference
Capture & Import
5 features (#1 – #5)Getting recipes into RecipeMemoir: handwritten cards, Paprika vaults, physical shoeboxes, and the tools that clean and enrich on import.
- 1 Index Card Resurrection + Heirloom Handwrite Fontv2High
User photographs a handwritten recipe card; the app OCRs it into a clean, editable recipe while preserving the original scan as a visual artifact on the page. As an enhancement, the handwriting is analyzed and recreated as an installable font file so the published site and print book can render recipe titles in the actual ancestor's handwriting.
Turns the shoebox of Grandma's cards into a digital archive without losing the personal touch that makes them meaningful.
- 2 Paprika Two-Way Syncv1Medium
Import from Paprika on day one. Long-term: background polling of Paprika Cloud Sync to auto-import new and changed recipes as a delta, eventually making RecipeMemoir the publication and story layer on top of Paprika rather than a replacement. Two-way: edits in RecipeMemoir (notes, voice stories, memoir fields) don't clobber the source.
Removes the biggest friction for the ICP who already lives in Paprika and doesn't want to start over.
- 3 Side-by-Side Cooking Modev2Low
When a recipe was captured from a handwritten card, users can toggle between the original scan on the left and the clean RecipeMemoir version on the right. A swipe gesture on mobile. Useful for proofreading and for showing family members the "before/after" transformation.
Proves the value of the digitization step and gives families a satisfying visual comparison to share.
- 4 Heirloom Recipe Scanning Servicev2High
User mails in a physical shoebox of handwritten cards. A small team (or contracted scanning service) scans, OCRs, rewrites, and imports everything into a hosted RecipeMemoir site, then mails the originals back. Target price $299–$499 depending on volume. Returns a ready-to-publish beautiful site.
Captures the segment of the ICP (55-75) who has the shoebox but will never do the digitizing themselves.
Revenue: $299–$499 per order (service tier) - 5 Pantry Pairing AIv1Medium
User photos their fridge or pastes a list of ingredients. AI matches against their own recipe archive and returns the best fitting family recipes with automatic portion scaling. Purely draws from the user's collection, not a generic recipe database.
Makes the archive actively useful on a weeknight, not just a nostalgic artifact to browse occasionally.
Voice & Memoir Layer
5 features (#6 – #10)The layer that separates RecipeMemoir from every other recipe manager: the story, the voice, and the meaning behind the food. Seven of seven models proposed some form of voice stories.
- 6 Voice of the Cook (Audio Stories with QR Print Integration)v1Medium
Each recipe page can hold one or more short audio clips: a family member telling how they learned to make it, or reading the recipe aloud. The clip is transcribed automatically. On the published site, the clip plays inline. In print exports, a QR code appears beside the recipe that links to the audio when scanned. Recordings can be made in-app on mobile or uploaded as files.
Captures a grandparent's voice before it's lost, and gives the print cookbook a dimension no competitor can match.
- 7 Heritage Mode / Memoir Layerv1Low
Structured memoir fields on every recipe: who made this, when we ate it, what it means to the family, how it changed over the years (substitutions, scaling, regional drift). On the published site these appear as a sidebar or facing-page essay alongside the recipe. In print they become a full facing-page story in the book. Fields are optional; even partial fills produce something meaningful.
Turns a recipe card into a family document that future generations actually want to read.
- 8 Family Fork Timeline / Recipe Evolution Chroniclev2Medium
A visual narrative history of each recipe: who originally contributed it, when tweaks were made and by whom, which family member last cooked it, with threaded comments on each entry. Framed as a memoir story of how the recipe traveled and changed across generations, not as version control. Includes photos logged by family members when they cook it.
Shows recipes as living documents with real family history, not static instructions from a fixed moment.
Note: this is a narrative story of changes, not a rollback/undo feature.
- 9 The Secret Ingredient Finderv2Low
AI scans a recipe and surfaces what makes it distinctive: an unusual combination, a technique that defies convention, or an ingredient that shouldn't work but does. The finding appears as a badge on the recipe page ("Grandma's secret: a tablespoon of instant coffee in the chili") and generates a shareable social snippet the user can post.
Makes individual recipes shareable and generates organic discovery content without any extra work from the user.
- 10 Ancestor Voice Clone (AI Reading)FutureHigh
Advanced future feature: an AI voice-clone reads the recipe aloud in the ancestor's likely tone, based on era, region, and handwriting clues. Requires meaningful audio samples or creative interpretation by AI. This is distinct from Voice of the Cook (which uses real recorded audio). Ethically sensitive and technically complex; roadmap as a premium future add-on.
Could be deeply moving for families who have no recordings of a deceased relative's voice.
Browse & Display
4 features (#11 – #14)How the collection is organized, navigated, and surfaced on the published site and in the app.
- 11 Generational Map (Interactive Family Tree View)v2High
An interactive map and family tree view showing which relative contributed each recipe, with location pins (region or city of origin), era badges (1940s, 1970s, etc.), and a timeline slider to explore the collection by decade. Clicking a family member's node shows their recipes. Published on the public cookbook site as an explorable visualization.
Turns the recipe collection into a legible family history document that visitors can explore by person, era, or geography.
- 12 The Cookbook Timelinev2Low
A usage log for each recipe: date first added, last cooked, how many times it's been exported or shared, which ingredients were last purchased. Not version history, it's a factual cooking diary attached to the recipe, showing how active it is in the family's real life.
Gives the collection a sense of activity and shows which recipes are actually beloved vs. imported and forgotten.
- 13 Taste Stats Dashboardv1Low
Running lightweight analytics inside the app: cuisine frequency breakdown, estimated cost per serving (based on typical ingredient costs), most-cooked vs. never-cooked split, season distribution. A simple internal dashboard for the owner, not a published page.
Gives power users insight into their collection's patterns and makes the app feel alive and data-rich.
- 14 Timeline Taste Toursv3Medium
Curated sequential meal plans from the collection organized by theme: "1950s Favorites," "Summer Saturdays," "Seasonal Specials," "Grandma's Sunday Table." Each tour presents recipes in a guided cooking journey order with an intro essay placing them in context. Users can build tours manually or let AI suggest them based on era tags, contributor, or occasion.
Transforms the archive from a reference library into a storytelling experience you can actively inhabit for a week.
Family Collaboration
5 features (#15 – #19)Tools that bring dispersed family members into the cookbook project without requiring them to create accounts or learn the app.
- 15 The Contribution Linkv1Low
The cookbook owner generates a shareable no-login link. Any relative who receives it can submit a recipe (text, photo, or voice memo) without creating an account. Submissions land in the owner's review queue; one tap approves and imports them. Push notification fires when a new submission arrives, with a "Thank you" button that sends an auto-email to the contributor.
Removes the single biggest barrier to family participation: nobody wants to sign up for yet another app.
- 16 Family Seat Packs (Additional Editor Seats)v1Low
The owner can add named family members as full editors with their own logins: $4/month or $40/year per seat. Editors can add recipes, record voice stories, fill memoir fields, and log cooks. The owner retains publishing control. This is distinct from the no-login Contribution Link (which is for one-off submissions from relatives who won't become regular editors).
Enables multi-generational families to collaboratively build the cookbook without all activity routing through one person.
Revenue: $4/mo or $40/yr per seat (recurring) - 17 Shared Cooking Calendarv1Medium
Family members with editor seats (or contribution links) can drop planned meals onto a shared group calendar. Day-before reminders go out. When a meal is cooked, the cook logs it with an optional photo and short note; the entry auto-updates the recipe's cookbook timeline and notifies the family feed. Creates a living record of the family's eating life.
Connects the static recipe archive to the family's actual daily life in a lightweight way that doesn't feel like homework.
- 18 Collaborative Cook-Along Sessionsv1High
Real-time watch-party mode where geographically dispersed relatives cook the same family recipe together: synced step timer, a live chat, and an optional video-call embed. When the session ends, photos and chat highlights are attached to the recipe's timeline automatically. Framed as a "Family Cook Night" with a shareable invite link.
Recreates the experience of cooking together at Grandma's table across any distance, and creates new memories tied to old recipes.
- 19 Family Activity Feedv1Low
A gentle weekly digest (email or in-app) showing what relatives added, cooked, or commented on in the shared collection. Includes contribution streak nudges. Covers all activity by editors and contribution-link contributors. Keeps the collaborative project feeling alive without requiring anyone to check back manually.
Maintains momentum in a project that easily stalls when life gets busy, by surfacing other people's activity as social motivation.
Retention & Notifications
10 features (#20 – #29)The loop that keeps users opening the app and adding to the collection across years, not just the first enthusiastic week.
- 20 Memory Anniversaries + Recipe Milestone Alertsv1Low
On the anniversary of a recipe's creation date: "Today 12 years ago Mom saved Pumpkin Bread. Bake it again?" Also fires on cooking milestones: 50th time a recipe is made, 10-year anniversary of a family dish, 100th recipe added to the collection. Badges for milestones appear in the next print export. All notification cadence is user-configurable (weekly digest vs. individual pings).
Creates emotionally charged reasons to re-engage with the app on emotionally significant moments, not just when users remember to check.
- 21 The Annual Cookbook Momentv1Low
Every November, RecipeMemoir auto-generates a "Year in Recipes" mini-cookbook for each user: the most-cooked recipes, new additions, family milestones logged, voice stories recorded. Delivered as a beautifully formatted email with a one-click "Order Print Copy" CTA just in time for holiday gifting. The generated book is also saved to the user's account.
Creates a natural annual purchase moment aligned with the highest gifting season, with zero effort from the user.
- 22 "What Did We Make Last [Holiday]?" Reminderv1Low
Two weeks before each major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.), the app surfaces recipes tagged or cooked around that holiday in previous years: "Last Thanksgiving you made these 4 dishes, want to plan this year's menu?" If no tags exist yet, it prompts the user to add holiday tags to their recipes now.
Triggers engagement at the exact moment families are already thinking about food and traditions, making the app feel indispensable for holiday planning.
- 23 On This Day in Your Kitchenv2Low
Weekly email (sent Sunday morning): a recipe the family made or added exactly 1, 2, or 5 years ago today. Includes the memoir story if one was written, a photo if one was logged, and a one-tap "Cook it tonight" button that adds it to the family calendar. Framed as a memory, not a reminder.
Combines nostalgia with a concrete action step, creating a consistent gentle re-engagement touchpoint every week.
- 24 The Weekly Simmer / Sunday Supper Promptv1Low
A combined weekly email (Saturday evening or Sunday morning) surfacing one recipe from the collection chosen by algorithm: seasonality, time since last cooked, and emotional weight (recipes with voice stories get priority). Includes a personal fact about the recipe ("You last made this on a Tuesday in March 2022") and a one-tap "Cook Tonight" button. Replaces mindless scrolling with a meaningful prompt.
Creates a reliable weekly hook that keeps the archive active in users' daily life rather than gathering digital dust.
- 25 Seasonal Whisper Suggestionsv1Low
Surfaces recipes tied to upcoming holidays, local produce peaks based on user location, and seasonal patterns from the user's own cooking history. Called "whisper" because these are gentle, non-pushy in-app nudges rather than aggressive push notifications. Quarterly digest email variant for users who prefer batch delivery.
Makes the collection feel seasonally alive and the app feel like it knows your rhythms.
- 26 The Recipe Streak + Cooking Logv1Low
A quiet log of every recipe cooked, built up by one-tap "I made this" actions in the app and via email. Surfaces nudges for recipes not made in 3+ years ("This one hasn't been cooked since 2021, time for a revival?"). Streak badges for consecutive weeks of cooking from the collection. Milestone badges (cooked 100 recipes, added 50 voice stories) appear in the next print run.
Gamifies collection engagement without making it feel like a game, using cooking streaks as a proxy for family food culture health.
- 27 The Family Cooking Challengev1Low
Monthly challenge: cook one recipe from the collection you've never made before, log it with a photo and reaction note. A Family Challenge Board shows who completed the challenge. Completing 4 monthly challenges earns a badge printed in the next GiftBook. Cook Quest variant: weekly themed challenges ("One-Pot Week," "1950s Sunday Dinner") for more engaged users.
Pulls the less-engaged family members back in via friendly competition and gives completionists a concrete reason to cook from the archive.
- 28 Family Stewards and Heirlooms Challengesv3Low
Gamification layer for the social-contribution side: "Recipe Steward of the Month" badge for the family member who added the most memories, digitized the most handwritten recipes, or recorded the most voice stories in a given month. Appears in the family feed and in the next print book. Aimed at recognizing the family archivist role explicitly.
Recognizes the emotional labor of the family archivist and motivates other family members to contribute.
Print & Physical Products
6 features (#30 – #35)The tangible end-products that justify the subscription and create the highest-value revenue moments. Print is where the emotional payoff lives for this ICP.
- 30 GiftBook Deluxe (Premium Print-on-Demand Hardcover)v1Medium
Premium 200-page lay-flat hardcover printed on archival paper with the family's recipes, memoir essays, contributor photos, and QR codes linking to voice stories. Foil stamping on the cover. Standard tier ships via print-on-demand (KDP or equivalent). Deluxe tier adds keepsake box and linen binding. KDP integration enables Amazon listing so others can order copies directly.
The single highest emotional-value product in the lineup: a physical artifact families can pass down for generations.
Revenue: per-unit margin on print orders; base pricing ~$49–$79, deluxe ~$99–$129 - 31 The Living Index Cardv2Low
A printable wallet-sized index card for any recipe: clean formatted recipe on the front, QR code on the back linking to the full site version with voice stories, photos, and memoir content. Users can print at home or order a physical box of 50–100 cards from RecipeMemoir. The printed card preserves the tactile tradition while the QR code bridges to the rich digital version.
Satisfies the ICP who loves the feel of a real index card but wants the depth of digital, without forcing a choice.
Revenue: physical card box orders at $19–$39 - 32 The Heirloom Boxv1High
A physical keepsake package: a printed recipe box plus 50–100 index cards, a linen-bound mini cookbook, and a QR-linked archive of all voice stories. Priced at $79–$129. Positioned as a premium gift product (Mother's Day, birthdays, memorials). Fulfillment via a third-party physical goods service or in-house assembly.
The flagship gift product for users who want to give something tangible and heirloom-quality, not just a digital subscription.
Revenue: $79–$129 per order - 33 The One-Tap Heirloom Gift Printv1Low
A visitor to any published cookbook site can click "Send this as a printed keepsake" on any recipe page. For $9.99 (or a similar impulse price), RecipeMemoir prints and ships a single-recipe art print via Printful or a similar fulfillment service. No account required for the visitor. The cookbook owner gets a notification and optionally a revenue share.
Converts cookbook site visitors into paying customers instantly, without requiring them to sign up or commit to a subscription.
Revenue: $9.99/print; RecipeMemoir takes margin on fulfillment - 34 Cookbook Subscription Boxv3High
$39.99/quarter: auto-compile the most-viewed and most-cooked recipes from the collection into a beautifully designed printed book, mailed quarterly to the owner plus up to 5 gift recipients. Recipients get a surprise cookbook of family favorites four times a year. No design work required from the user; RecipeMemoir handles the selection algorithm and layout.
Creates predictable recurring revenue and positions RecipeMemoir as an ongoing service rather than a one-time project.
Revenue: $39.99/quarter recurring subscription - 35 Memorial & Milestone Site Templatesv2Low
Premium one-time templates for specific life events: "In Loving Memory of..." (tribute cookbook for a deceased family member), "The Wedding Cookbook" (couple's combined recipe heritage), "Baby's First Year" (early food memories). Priced $19–$39 each. Chosen at site creation or applied to an existing site. Includes event-specific memoir field prompts and cover designs.
Captures high-emotion moments when families are most motivated to spend on something meaningful and lasting.
Revenue: $19–$39 one-time template purchase
Revenue & Monetization
5 features (#36 – #40)Business model levers beyond the base subscription: storefronts, marketplace splits, service tiers, and a voice platform integration.
- 36 The Family Cookbook Storefront (PDF / KDP Sales)v2Low
Turn any published cookbook site into a mini e-commerce page: the owner sets a price ($4.99 typical) and sells PDF compilations or KDP-formatted editions of their full cookbook. RecipeMemoir handles payment processing and delivery. Revenue split: 70% to the creator, 30% to RecipeMemoir. No per-book setup fee; the owner just flips a switch to enable the storefront.
Gives the most engaged users a monetization path for their effort, creating a new retention hook and a passive revenue stream for RecipeMemoir.
Revenue: 30% platform take on every sale - 38 Theme Marketplacev1Medium
Open the CSS/theme layer to outside designers. Third-party designers submit themes (vetted for quality); themes sell in a marketplace for $15–$30 each. Revenue split: 70% to the designer, 30% to RecipeMemoir. Creates a passive revenue stream and a growing design library without internal design headcount for every style.
Scales the visual diversity of published sites without scaling the internal design team, and builds a designer community around the platform.
Revenue: 30% of theme sales; $15–$30/theme - 39 The RecipeMemoir Cookbook Publishing Servicev1High
Full-service premium tier: professional photography, recipe testing, design, ISBN acquisition, and Amazon listing for families who want a truly commercial-grade cookbook. Priced at $2,000–$5,000 or a 30% revenue share model for ongoing royalties. Aimed at families with significant recipe collections and the budget for a lasting legacy product. Handled in partnership with a cookbook design/publishing service.
Captures the premium segment willing to spend significantly on a professional-grade family heirloom, at margins that justify the service overhead.
Revenue: $2,000–$5,000 service fee or 30% royalty share - 40 Alexa / Google Home Voice Integrationv2High
"Alexa, ask RecipeMemoir to read me Grandma's lasagna recipe." The skill reads the clean recipe aloud step by step and also plays the attached voice story clip when available. Requires building and publishing an Alexa skill and Google Home action, which involves certification processes and ongoing maintenance. Voice story playback is the distinguishing capability vs. any generic recipe skill.
Puts RecipeMemoir in the kitchen in the most natural possible way: hands-free, during actual cooking.
Big Swing
1 feature (#43)The one feature in the approved list that sits in a different category entirely: ethically complex, emotionally resonant, and potentially a major differentiation moat.
- 43 The Inheritance Protocolv3High
A built-in "recipe will": the owner designates an heir for the entire cookbook archive. The trigger is configurable: manual handoff (owner clicks "transfer now") or a dead-man's switch (90 days of no login triggers the process). When triggered, the designated heir receives an email notification, full export of the archive in all formats, and inherits the live cookbook site URL with a memorial banner automatically added. The original owner's subscription is honored for 12 months post-transfer. All of this is set up in a single "What happens to my cookbook?" settings flow during onboarding.
Directly addresses the core anxiety of the 45-75 ICP ("what happens to this when I'm gone?") and creates a feature no competitor will think to build for years.
Implementation note: requires legal review of the dead-man's switch mechanism, clear consent flows, GDPR/CCPA handling of deceased-user data, and careful UX for the onboarding flow. Ethically sensitive; should be tested with the ICP before building.
The Recipe Library
29 features (#44 – #72)The baseline utility layer for the majority use case: people who collect recipes from websites and social media rather than family recipe boxes. Import from anywhere, clean up the mess, enrich with AI commentary, export to beautiful formats, track nutrition, and optimize for health beyond RDA minimums.
- 44 Universal Web & Social Importv1High
Import recipes from any URL: food blogs, restaurant sites, NYT Cooking, Serious Eats, paywalled pages (with user auth), YouTube video descriptions, Reddit posts, even photos of recipe pages. No JSON-LD or schema.org required: AI extracts structured recipe data from raw HTML or plain text. Social imports: Instagram posts and Reels (caption + comment parsing), TikTok (transcript + caption), Pinterest pins and boards, Facebook posts and recipe groups, Twitter/X recipe threads and quoted tweets (including "recipe in replies" patterns), and Substack recipe newsletters (email body parsing). Each platform gets custom import handling tuned to how recipes actually appear there. Browser extension and iOS/Android share sheet deliver a native "Share to RecipeMemoir" button in the OS share dialog.
Captures the dominant real-world use case, the person with 400 browser bookmarks and zero family recipe cards, and makes RecipeMemoir useful from day one.
- 45 Batch Import + Smart Deduplicationv1Medium
Import an entire bookmarks folder (browser .html export), a text file of URLs, or a CSV. Progress tracker shows status per URL; partial failures recover gracefully. Smart dedup checks each incoming recipe against the existing collection by ingredient signature and title similarity, shows the user a side-by-side comparison when a likely duplicate is detected, letting them choose merge, replace, or keep both.
Turns a years-long pile of bookmarks into a clean, deduplicated library without manually reviewing every entry.
- 46 Import Cleanup & Normalization Pipelinev1Medium
After any import, AI automatically standardizes the recipe: normalizes units (cups vs mL, oz vs grams, temperature in F and C), parses free-text instructions into numbered steps, flags incomplete or ambiguous recipes, rewrites confusing instructions into clear prose, and detects missing fields. Users review suggested changes, approve in bulk, or revert individual fields to the raw import text. Ingredient names are normalized to a canonical vocabulary so nutritional lookups work correctly.
Eliminates the "imported but still messy" state that makes most recipe collections unusable without hours of manual editing.
- 47 Rich Export Engine (PDF Cookbooks, HTML Sites, ePub)v1High
Three export paths for any recipe or collection. PDF Cookbook: single recipe card, themed collection, or full bound-cookbook layout with typography choices, photo placement, AI-generated cover art, front matter (dedication page, table of contents, index), and print-on-demand fulfillment via Blurb or Lulu integration. HTML Recipe Website: standalone static site from any recipe subset with custom theme, brand colors, and one-click deploy to Vercel/Netlify or ZIP download for self-hosting. ePub / MOBI: for Kindle, Apple Books, email sharing, or Amazon KDP self-publishing.
Makes RecipeMemoir the publishing layer for any personal recipe collection, not just a storage app.
Revenue: export credits, print-on-demand fulfillment margin, HTML site hosting upsell - 48 AI Commentary Layer (11 Types)v1High
For any recipe, AI generates optional rich commentary blocks that toggle on/off per export. Eleven types: (a) Food Science- why this technique works; (b) Culinary History- origin story and cultural context; (c) Bulk Cooking Adaptation- how to scale for 20–50 servings with equipment notes; (d) Make-Ahead Guide- exactly what to prep in advance and how far ahead; (e) Freezer Guide- what freezes well, how to freeze, thaw method, maximum storage time; (f) Nutrition Deep-Dive- macros and key micronutrients per serving; (g) Ingredient Substitutions & Variations- dietary, budget, and seasonal swaps; (h) Fictional Family Backstory- AI writes a heartwarming fake origin story as if it were a family heirloom recipe; (i) Wine & Beverage Pairings; (j) Timing & Prep Sequencing- when to start each element so everything finishes together; (k) Goes Well With- complementary recipe suggestions pulled from the user's own collection.
Turns a flat imported recipe into a publishable, educational, shareable experience. The fictional family backstory is the surprise delight feature for web-imported recipes that have no heritage.
Revenue: AI commentary credits or unlimited commentary subscription tier - 49 Meal Tracker & Nutrition Logv1Medium
Log what you actually cook and eat, pull directly from your recipe collection or log a freeform meal. Per meal, per day, per week: auto-calculated macro (protein, fat, carbs, fiber, calories) and micronutrient breakdown drawn from the recipe's normalized ingredient database. Visual progress bars against your weekly targets. Running totals update as you log. Generates a grocery list from a planned week of recipes. Tracks leftovers so nothing gets forgotten in the fridge.
Closes the loop between recipe collection and actual eating, makes RecipeMemoir relevant every day, not just when planning a cookbook.
- 50 Optimal Nutrient Goal Enginev1High
Targets OPTIMAL nutrition from food alone, not RDA minimums, and no supplementation needed. Users set personal optimal weekly targets for: creatine, EPA, DHA, magnesium (glycinate and threonate forms distinguished), methylated B vitamins (B6, B9, B12), phytonutrients, vitamin K2, choline, selenium, zinc, iodine, and other longevity-focused nutrients. AI searches the user's own recipe collection to assemble a week of meals that hits those targets through food. Shows exactly where food can't fully supply optimal amounts and suggests ingredient modifications or new recipes to close the gaps. "Design My Week" mode outputs a full meal plan with grocery list, prep schedule, and a per-nutrient coverage report showing minimal vs optimal vs actual.
Positions RecipeMemoir as a precision longevity nutrition tool, a genuinely novel use case no other recipe app has tackled, with high willingness to pay from the health-optimizing ICP.
Revenue: premium Nutrition Pro tier, high willingness to pay from health-focused users - 51 AI Cooking Video Generatorv3High
Select any recipe from the library and generate a cooking instruction video. Two output modes: Short-form (60–90 sec), highlight reel of key steps formatted for Instagram Reels or TikTok, branded overlay, share-ready. Long-form (8–15 min), full cook-through with AI voiceover narration, text overlays for temperatures, times, and quantities at each step, branded intro and outro. Visual styles: AI avatar chef, animated food graphics, or photo montage. Brand theme customization: colors, fonts, logo watermark, music bed.
Turns every recipe into a publishable video asset, the v3 horizon that makes RecipeMemoir a content creation platform for food creators, not just a personal archive.
Revenue: video generation credits or Creator tier subscription - 52 Platform-Native Publishing Suite (Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter/X, Substack)v1Medium
Custom export and publishing flows tuned to each platform's native recipe format. Instagram: recipe carousel posts (one ingredient per slide, one step per slide), Story templates with ingredient stickers, and Reel scripts with timing overlays. Pinterest: Rich Pin format with structured ingredient and nutrition data, step-by-step pin sequences, and board organization by cuisine or meal type. Facebook: formatted recipe posts optimized for Facebook groups (the largest recipe-sharing communities online), event menu posts for dinner parties, and one-click share to any group you belong to. Twitter/X: recipe thread format (ingredients tweet, steps as replies, nutrition summary as final tweet), with auto-generated hero image for the opening tweet. Substack: export any recipe or meal plan as a Substack-ready post with proper formatting, embedded nutrition callouts, and optional AI food science commentary as a subscriber-only section.
Meets users where their audiences already are. Each platform has a different way recipes spread, this feature handles the formatting, threading, and structure so users publish natively without copy-paste reformatting.
Revenue: included in Creator tier subscription - 53 The Weekly Dropv1Low
Every Friday, the app surfaces 5 trending recipes from across TikTok, YouTube, and food blogs, pre-imported and ready to save with one tap. Curated by recipe engagement signals, not editorial picks. Becomes a weekly destination like Spotify's Discover Weekly for cooking.
Drives weekly active users and grows the recipe collection passively without the user having to hunt.
- 54 Grocery Cart Integration (Instacart / Amazon Fresh)v1Medium
One tap converts any meal plan or recipe collection into a checkout cart at the user's preferred grocer. Smart deduplication removes ingredients you already have ("you already have olive oil"). Supports Instacart, Amazon Fresh, and Walmart Grocery. Affiliate revenue on every completed order.
Makes the meal planning feature immediately useful and creates a recurring monetization stream tied to actual cooking behavior.
Revenue: grocery affiliate margin ($0.50–$2.00 per completed order) - 55 "Cook This Week" Auto-Generatorv1Medium
Builds a personalized 7-day meal plan from your own recipe collection that balances nutrient targets, uses overlapping ingredients to reduce waste, and respects dietary preferences. Outputs a single grocery list sorted by store aisle, a Sunday prep schedule (what to chop ahead), and leftover usage suggestions. Learns which recipes you actually cooked and rated, adjusts future plans so you never see a recipe you skipped twice.
Turns a passive recipe collection into an active weekly cooking system with zero manual planning effort.
- 56 Gap Plate Weekly Briefv1Medium
Every Sunday, a beautiful visual summary of the week's cooking against optimal nutrient targets, showing exactly where you hit, missed, or overshot. Pairs each gap with a specific recipe from your own collection (or suggests one to import) that would close it. Reads like a food magazine feature written just for you, complete with a generated cover image of a dish that represents your nutritional personality this week.
Makes optimal nutrition feel like a curated editorial experience rather than a spreadsheet obligation.
- 57 Nutrient Tetris Plannerv1Medium
Drag recipes onto a weekly meal grid and watch real-time nutrient bars fill and change color as you approach optimal targets. The visual game mechanic makes micronutrient balancing intuitive instead of tedious, users see instantly how swapping one breakfast recipe closes a choline gap or adding a salmon dinner completes their EPA/DHA target for the week.
Turns the otherwise intimidating task of optimal nutrition planning into something that feels like solving a satisfying puzzle.
- 58 Cooking Memory Reelv1Low
At the end of each month or year, the app automatically stitches together timestamped meal logs, nutrient arcs, cooking milestones, new ingredients tried, and how your diet shifted across seasons into a cinematic Memory Reel. Export as a shareable video, a web page, or a keepsake PDF chapter. This becomes the feature that makes users emotionally attached to the app, it's not just food tracking, it's a living album of how you cared for yourself.
Creates the annual "Spotify Wrapped for your kitchen" moment that drives sharing, press coverage, and deep retention.
- 59 Cooked-It Confirmationsv1Low
A push notification at the time you scheduled a meal: "Cooking the Korean braised short ribs tonight? Tap when done." Each confirmation builds your cooked log, unlocks ratings, feeds the recommendation engine, and contributes to your nutrient tracking. Users get a satisfying "you've actually cooked 134 recipes this year" stat at year end.
The small friction of a one-tap confirmation creates a cooked-history database that makes the entire app smarter over time.
- 60 Seasonal Reset Enginev1Low
Four times a year, the app weaves Taste Profile and Gap Plate data into a visual "nutrition reset" report, suggesting a curated week of meals from your own collection that resets your patterns, for example, after holiday indulgence, the app designs a high-fiber, anti-inflammatory week using recipes you already own. Includes a printed summary you can put on your fridge.
Creates four recurring re-engagement moments per year that feel helpful and seasonal rather than sales-driven.
- 61 Global Recipe Graph / Nutrition Autopilotv1High
A constraint-solving meal planning engine that takes your weekly schedule, optimal nutrient targets, dietary restrictions, and budget and computes the entire next week's menu exclusively from recipes you already own, hitting those targets within a 3% margin, minimizing prep effort and leftover waste, and auto-generating a single clickable grocery order. Built on a graph database of imported recipes mapped to structured ingredient IDs and nutrient profiles using USDA and Open Food Facts data.

Revenue: premium Autopilot tier ($15–$25/month) - 62 Cookbook as Subscription Marketplacev1Medium
Users can publish their themed recipe collections ("30 High-Iron Vegan Meals," "Sheet Pan Dinners Under 30 Minutes") as paid digital downloads. RecipeMemoir handles all formatting, AI cover art, and distribution. Buyers receive a beautifully formatted cookbook that also integrates with their own RecipeMemoir account via one-click recipe import. RecipeMemoir takes 30% of each sale.

Perfect holiday gifting format, the emotional payoff of holding your own recipe cards is enormous.
Low-effort high-margin physical product that turns the digital collection into a tangible, giftable artifact.
Revenue: print-on-demand margin per deck ordered - 64 Recipe Stock Marketv1Medium
A social layer where users invest virtual currency in public recipe cards. Recipes go up in value based on how many users cook them, rate them highly, and share them. The "market" reveals hidden gems and trending ingredients before they hit mainstream food media. Top early identifiers earn real prizes: cookbook copies, meal kit credits, or premium subscription time.
Turns the community into a prediction engine for food trends and creates a game mechanic that makes browsing other users' collections addictive.
- 65 Recipe Remix Roomv1High
Pick any recipe in your library and apply a cascade of transformations in one flow: "make it macro-friendly, swap to Mexican-heritage ingredients, cut to one-pan, auto-generate a time-blocked prep plan." Preview all variations side by side, rate them, and one-click save the winner as a new recipe card. AI handles the math, unit conversions, and instruction rewrites automatically.
Turns every saved recipe into a launchpad for infinite variations, the app feels smarter and more creative the more you use it.
- 66 AI Chef Avatar Trainingv3High
Train the cooking video avatar with your own voice recording so AI-generated cooking videos sound like you explaining the steps. Users can customize the avatar's appearance or use an animated version. The feature that transforms RecipeMemoir from a tool into a personal media studio, users become food content creators without needing any production skills.
Revenue: Creator Pro tier subscription - 67 Open API: Nutrient Intelligence Layerv3High
An open API that lets other apps and platforms query a user's private recipe collection for nutrient-optimized suggestions while keeping the source data encrypted and never leaving the user's control. Grocery delivery services, health platforms, and nutrition apps plug in and surface personalized recommendations powered by the user's own curated library. RecipeMemoir becomes infrastructure rather than a single app.
Unlocks recurring B2B revenue from integrations and positions RecipeMemoir as the trusted nutrient intelligence layer across the health and food tech ecosystem.
Revenue: API licensing fees per integration or per query - 68 Seasonal Cookbook Auto-Draftsv3Low
At the end of each quarter, the app proposes a draft cookbook of "Your Fall 2025: 23 recipes you actually cooked." One tap to publish as a polished PDF or order a print-on-demand copy. The draft is already formatted and designed, the user just approves it. Creates a year-in-cooking artifact users will keep, share, and give as gifts.
Generates four natural purchase moments per year tied to emotional retrospection, the holiday edition alone drives significant seasonal revenue.
Revenue: PDF export credits and print-on-demand orders - 69 Corporate Culinary Wellness (B2B)v3High
A B2B version of the Optimal Nutrient Goal Engine licensed to companies for employee wellness programs. HR departments and corporate foodservice directors use it to design weekly menus meeting evidence-based nutrition targets while minimizing ingredient cost. Opens a niche enterprise market with recurring contract revenue, the same core technology earns 10x ARPU versus the consumer app.
Revenue: enterprise licensing contracts ($500–$5,000/month per company) - 70 Step-by-Step Cook Mode with Inline Timersv1Medium
A dedicated full-screen cooking interface that highlights the current step, dims the others, and auto-detects time references ("bake 25 minutes", "simmer for 10 min") as tappable countdown timers. Screen stays on. Users advance steps with a tap or voice command, and can run multiple recipes simultaneously in pinned panels, essential when cooking several dishes at once. Works for both the clean imported version and the original handwritten scan.
The most-used daily feature in Paprika and every competing recipe app. Any user switching from Paprika will look for this on day one, shipping without it is the single biggest migration blocker.
- 71 Recipe Ratings & Starred Favoritesv1Low
A simple 1–5 star rating system and a heart/favorite toggle on every recipe card. Ratings feed into the recommendation engine, the "Cook This Week" auto-planner, the Annual Cookbook Moment, and the Memory Reel. Favorites create an always-accessible shortlist. A recipe that gets 5 stars 12 times becomes a family heirloom automatically, the rating history is preserved and visible on the heritage timeline.
Basic collection hygiene that every recipe app user expects. Also the most important signal for personalization across every AI feature in RecipeMemoir.
- 72 Persistent Pantry Inventoryv1Medium
A running pantry log the user maintains over time, add items when you buy them, check them off as you use them. Integrates with grocery list generation (auto-removes pantry items from new lists), the "Cook This Week" planner (filters meal suggestions to recipes you can mostly make now), and the Pantry Pairing AI (#5, which does a one-shot photo query on top of the persistent log). Supports bulk-add from a completed grocery order and low-stock nudges for staples.
Distinct from the one-shot Pantry Pairing AI, this is the persistent inventory that makes the whole grocery and meal-planning layer accurate over time rather than just in the moment.
