The master privacy policy and terms, ready to read

Written in your own voice, from the two privacy pages you already had live. Every factual claim was read off the live sites rather than assumed. Nothing is published yet.

Prepared 2026-08-08

Following the footer audit, here is the whole legal system: one privacy policy and one terms document, written once and filled per site, plus a medical disclaimer for the human health sites and a veterinary one for the dog sites.

Nothing is live yet. This page is for you to read the actual sentences before any of it reaches a website.

What I did first, so the text is true

A privacy policy is only worth anything if it describes what the site really does. So every claim in these documents comes from something I checked on August 8 rather than something I assumed:

  • Which sites have a signup form, a contact form, or neither.
  • Which run analytics, and which kind. Four use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie. None of your own sites run Google Analytics or an ad pixel.
  • Which load Google Fonts, because that genuinely sends a visitor's IP address to Google and belongs in an honest policy.
  • Which take payments, and through whom.

Those facts live in one file, legal/sites.json. When a site changes, you change that file and regenerate. The text cannot drift away from reality without somebody editing the record of reality first.

This caught a real error. Your live privacy page on buildamensgroup.com still names Resend as the company delivering your email. You moved to Amazon SES on August 2, so that page currently names the wrong processor. Regenerating fixes it.

The voice

I did not import a generic template. I wrote these from the two privacy pages you already had live, on testosteroneinwomen.com and buildamensgroup.com, because they were already the right thing: first person, short version at the top, contractions, no legalese, and an actual point of view. Those pages set the standard, and the rest of the portfolio now matches them rather than the other way around.

Contact

Every page uses annette@ at that site's own domain, as you asked. All 25 of those addresses now route to your Gmail, and catch-all is on across all 39 zones, so anything at any of your domains reaches you.

What varies between sites

About 85 percent of the text is identical everywhere. What changes:

Block Appears on
Email list section The 12 sites with a signup form
Contact form section The sites with a form but no list
Health section, saying I store nothing about your health Health and medspa sites
Cloudflare Web Analytics explanation bonevoyagedogrescue, newtoboulder, sponsorlab
No tracking at all Everywhere else
Stripe and card handling socialmapped, trainerbooked
Directory listings block in the terms The Boulder directories plus medspasboulder and househelperhub
Medical disclaimer smartstrongalive, proteinfirstrecipes, testosteroneinwomen
Veterinary disclaimer curecaninedisease

Three sites are excluded on purpose. ajijic.org has its own v0.2 drafts on the attorney-review track, so I have not touched them. exercisebuddyfinder.com is already complete and better than what I would generate. rebuildingseminars.com is Bob's GoHighLevel site and needs a conversation, not a file.

One honest caveat

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. What these documents do is describe, accurately and in plain English, what each site actually does with what it collects. That is the part most policies get wrong, and it is the part I can genuinely stand behind. If you want counsel to review them, the text is clean enough to hand over as is.

Read the real thing

Below is the fully rendered set for smartstrongalive.com, exactly as it would publish. Every other site gets the same documents with its own blocks switched on.

If a sentence here is not how you would say it, tell me which one and I will change it in the master rather than in one copy.

Privacy

The short version: I ask for one thing, your email address, and only if you want what I send. I don't sell it, I don't share it, and you can have it deleted by asking.

What I collect

Nothing at all unless you subscribe.

If you do give me your email address, I store:

  • Your email address, because you typed it in.
  • Which page you subscribed from, so I know which writing is actually useful.
  • The dates you subscribed and confirmed.
  • A country code worked out from your connection. The country only, never your city, your street, or anything finer.
  • Two random tokens, one to confirm your subscription and one to unsubscribe you. They exist so those links work without a password.

That's the entire list. No name, no age, no phone number.

I don't ask for or store anything about your health. Not your symptoms, your medications, your weight, your labs, or your history. If a page here has a quiz or a calculator, it runs entirely inside your browser and your answers are never sent anywhere. I don't see them, I can't see them, and there's nothing for me to store or lose. Please don't put health details into the contact or signup forms either. If someone sends that kind of thing unexpectedly, I remove it when I find it.

What I do with it

I send you what you signed up for, and occasionally new writing when I have something genuinely useful. That's the whole purpose of the list. I don't sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to anybody, and I don't run advertising against it.

Typing your address isn't enough on its own. I send one email asking you to confirm, and if you don't click it, your address sits there inactive and never receives anything else. Someone else typing your address in cannot sign you up.

Who else touches it

Three companies, all doing ordinary plumbing:

  • Cloudflare hosts this site and stores what the forms collect.
  • Amazon Web Services delivers the email, through its SES service.
  • Google Fonts serves the typefaces these pages use, which means Google sees the address your browser connects from, the same as on most sites on the internet.

None of them get your information for their own purposes.

Cookies and tracking

There are none. No analytics, no advertising pixels, no tracking of any kind, and no cookies for ordinary visitors. Nothing follows you from page to page, and nothing follows you off this site. You can read every word here and leave no record behind.

What you can ask me to do

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to [email protected] and I'll do it. You don't have to give a reason, you don't have to explain, and nothing bad happens to you for asking.

To get off the list specifically, click unsubscribe in any email I've sent you, or just reply and say the word. If you'd rather I delete the record entirely instead of only stopping the emails, say that and I'll do that instead.

I don't sell your personal information, and I don't share it for advertising. I never have. If you're in California, Colorado, or one of the other states with a privacy law that gives you the right to opt out of that, there's nothing here for you to opt out of, because I don't do it in the first place. Your other rights under those laws, to know, to correct, and to delete, are the ones above, and they're open to everybody who writes to me regardless of where they live.

Children

This site is written for adults. It isn't intended for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly keep information belonging to a child. If you think I have, write to me and I'll delete it.

If this changes

If I start collecting something new, this page gets updated before I do it, and the date below changes. I'd rather over-explain than surprise you.

Getting hold of me

Write to [email protected]. It reaches me directly, and I read it.

Terms of use

The short version: use this site, enjoy it, don't break it or steal from it. I've written these terms in plain English because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

Who runs this

Smart Strong Alive at smartstrongalive.com is run by Annette Thompson, in Boulder, Colorado. When these terms say "I" or "me", that's who they mean. When they say "you", they mean whoever is reading the site.

By using the site you're agreeing to what's below. If you don't agree with it, the honest answer is to close the tab; there's nothing here that requires you to accept terms you dislike.

What this site is

About the health writing

Everything here is educational. It's what I've read, what I've researched, and in places what I've lived through myself, written to help you ask better questions.

It isn't medical advice, and it isn't a substitute for a qualified clinician who knows your history. I'm not your doctor. I can't examine you, I don't know your labs, your medications, or your risks, and nothing on this site is tailored to you. Don't start, stop, or change any treatment because of something you read here. Talk to a professional who can actually look at your situation.

If you're having a medical emergency, stop reading and call your local emergency number.

The full version of this is on the medical disclaimer page.

Using the site

Do the ordinary reasonable things. Specifically, please don't:

  • Scrape, bulk-download, or republish the content here as your own.
  • Try to break, overload, or get into parts of the site that aren't public.
  • Use the site to harass anybody, or to do anything illegal.
  • Pass off anything here as written by you.

If you do any of that I may block you, and for anything serious I'll take it further.

The writing is mine

The words, photographs, layouts, and data compilations on this site are mine unless credited to somebody else, and they're protected by copyright.

You're welcome to quote a paragraph or two with a link back. That's what the internet is for. You're not welcome to copy a page wholesale, feed the site into a scraper to rebuild it elsewhere, or reuse the content commercially without asking. Ask me, and the answer is often yes.

What I don't promise

I put real work into keeping this site accurate and useful, and I fix things when I find them wrong. But I'm one person, not an institution, and I have to be honest about the limits:

  • The site is provided as it is. I can't promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of mistakes.
  • I can't promise the information here is complete or current at the moment you read it.
  • Following something you read here is your decision, and the outcome is yours too.

Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under law that can't be signed away. Some places don't allow certain limitations, and where that's true, this doesn't apply to you.

Limits on what I owe you

To the extent the law allows it, I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this site, and my total liability to you for anything connected with the site is limited to what you've paid me, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.

That's the standard clause, and it's here for the ordinary reason: a free website can't carry unlimited financial risk. It isn't an attempt to escape responsibility for something I actually did wrong.

This site links out, often. Those places are not mine and I don't control them. A link isn't a promise about what's on the other end of it, and once you leave, their terms and their privacy policy apply, not mine.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, in the United States. If we ever end up in a formal dispute, it belongs in the state or federal courts in Boulder County, Colorado.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

If these change

I'll update this page and change the date at the bottom. If something material changes and you're on my list, I'll tell you rather than quietly editing the page.

Getting hold of me

Write to [email protected]. A real person reads it, and that person is me.

Medical disclaimer

The short version: this is education, not medical advice. I'm not your doctor, I don't know your history, and nothing here is tailored to you. Talk to a clinician before you change anything.

What this site is

I write about menopause, hormones, strength, protein, and staying sharp after fifty because I've researched it hard and because I've lived a fair amount of it myself. My background is a BS in Medical Technology, so I can read a study and I know when one is being oversold. That's genuinely useful, and it's also the whole of it.

What I'm doing here is handing you the research, the questions worth asking, and my own experience, so you can walk into an appointment better prepared than I was.

What this site is not

It isn't medical advice. Not general advice, and definitely not advice for you specifically.

I can't examine you. I don't know your history, your labs, your medications, your family risk, or the six other things your clinician would weigh before saying yes or no. Two people with the same symptoms can need opposite answers, and I have no way to tell which one you are.

Nothing here creates a clinician relationship between us. Reading this site, emailing me, or replying to a newsletter doesn't make me responsible for your care, and I can't take that on.

Please don't do this

Don't start, stop, or change a medication, a dose, a supplement, or a treatment because of something you read here. That includes things I write about positively and things I write about skeptically.

If a page here disagrees with your own clinician, that isn't a reason to overrule them. It's a reason to ask them about it. They can see you and I can't.

If it's urgent

If you're having a medical emergency, stop reading and call your local emergency number, or go to an emergency room. Don't email me and wait.

If you're in crisis in the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

On my own story

I write about my own health in the first person, on purpose, because the sanitized version helps nobody. I write about my own HRT, my own testosterone, my own ApoB, my own use of Mounjaro, and living with an APOE4-homozygous result, because the tidy version of all this helps nobody.

What worked for me is a data point, not a protocol. Read it as one person's experience, which is exactly what it is.

Where the research comes from

I cite what I'm drawing on, and I link to it where I can, so you can check my reasoning rather than taking my word for it. Research moves, and some of what's here will age badly. When I find something I've written that's since been overturned, I fix it rather than leaving it up.

If you spot something here that's wrong or out of date, please write to me at [email protected]. I'd genuinely rather know.
