Get Bone Voyage Pushed to Google + Bing

Bone Voyage is ready to be pushed to Google and Bing so the new pages get found and indexed. There are just two setup steps that need your logged-in accounts, so only you can do them. Everything after that is automated on Charlie's side.

Each step ends with a simple handoff: once you're done, just tell Charlie and he takes it from there. You can do them in either order.

A Google Search Console access about 6 min

This gives Charlie permission to submit the sitemap to Google for you, without ever needing your Google login again. You'll create a small Google Cloud project, turn on one setting, download one file, and grant access.

  1. Create a Google Cloud project. Go to console.cloud.google.com/projectcreate, name it something like bonevoyage-search, and click Create.
  2. Turn on the Search Console API. Go to the Search Console API page, make sure your new project is selected in the top bar, and click Enable.
  3. Create a service account and download its key. Go to the Service Accounts page. Click Create service account, give it a name, and click through to Done (you can skip the optional roles). Then click the new service account, open the Keys tab, choose Add key → Create new key → JSON → Create. A small .json file downloads, and it lists an email address that ends in .iam.gserviceaccount.com. Keep both handy for Charlie. Don't email the file or post it anywhere public.
  4. Add that service-account email as an Owner. Go to the Bone Voyage Search Console users page. Click Add user, paste the service-account email from step 3, set the permission to Owner (Owner is required, Full is not enough), and click Add.
✅ Then tell Charlie: "Google is set up," and hand him the downloaded JSON key file. He submits the sitemap to Google from there.

B Bing Webmaster API key about 2 min

This lets Charlie push the pages to Bing too. It's just one key you copy from your Bing dashboard.

  1. Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools. Go to bing.com/webmasters and sign in with the account that owns bonevoyagedogrescue.com.
  2. Open API access. Click the gear or Settings, then API access, then API Key.
  3. Generate the key. Click Generate (or copy the existing key). It's a long string of letters and numbers.
✅ Then tell Charlie: "Bing key is in place," and pass him the key. He runs the first batch submit to Bing.
Why this matters: search engines can't rank pages they haven't found yet. These two steps let Charlie tell Google and Bing exactly where the new Bone Voyage pages live, so they start showing up in search instead of waiting to be discovered. It's a one-time setup, then it stays automated.
