18 drafts. Nothing has been sent. Approve the ones you want and I will send them.
Why this route
Authors are allowed to send you their own paper, and most are pleased to be asked. It is free, it is how researchers have always shared work, and it reaches the papers no index will give up. Reply rates on requests like these are good, and better when the person asking is clearly a real reader rather than a harvester.
Nothing has been sent. These are drafts. Tell me which to send, or say send all, and I will. Your name and address are on them, so you should be happy with the wording first.
Each is short on purpose. A specific, human, three-line request outperforms a long formal one.
The standard text
Subject: Request for a copy of your paper on [topic]
Dear Dr [Name],
I am writing about your paper, "[Title]" ([Journal], [Year]).
I am a medical technologist writing about testosterone in women, and I read the primary literature rather than summaries of it. Your paper is behind a paywall I cannot get past. If you are able to send a copy of the accepted manuscript, I would be grateful, and I will cite it properly.
Thank you for your work on this.
