Ajijic Member Content Map

What $399/year actually buys | 2026-07-12

← Back to Hub

Created: 2026-07-12 by Charlie (PLAN-membership-payments-prep, step 1) Status: DRAFT for Annette's review. Assignments are proposals; she can move any row.

Every existing content asset assigned to exactly one tier. Rule of thumb used: SEO-facing discovery content stays free (it is the lead-generation engine and the agent-referral landing surface); depth, tools-for-action, vendor names, and Annette's ongoing time are member or concierge value.

Tier definitions

Tier Who sees it Why it exists
Free forever Everyone, indexed by Google and AI crawlers Traffic, trust, email capture, agent referral landing pages
Member-only ($399/yr) Paying members Depth, action tools, updates, community
Concierge-only ($150-$400/mo and up) Concierge and relocation-tier clients Annette/Ava time and named-vendor introductions

Assignments

content/lead-magnets/

Asset Tier Notes
pet-import-guide.md/.html (full) Free (email-gated) Level 1 lead magnet; delivered on signup, not openly indexed
pet-import-guide-short.md/.html Free forever Open teaser version; SEO page that promotes the full guide signup

content/relocation-docs/

Asset Tier Notes
first-90-days-checklist Member-only Action tool; core membership value
red-flags-property-mexico Member-only High-stakes, high-trust content; also referenced in Tier 3 delivery
visa-application-checklist Member-only Action tool; the free visa FAQ page stays as the teaser
ajijic-vs-alternatives Free forever Top-of-funnel comparison content; strongest SEO/GEO magnet in the set

static-site/cost-calculator/

Asset Tier Notes
Cost of Living Calculator (index.html) Free forever Biggest traffic and link magnet on the site; gating it would starve the funnel. Member upgrade path: a member-only "your personalized budget report" export (gap, see below)

static-site/categories/ (all 13 pages)

All 13 stay Free forever: healthcare, real-estate, cost-of-living, daily-life, getting-legal, getting-there, community, banking-money, language, neighborhoods, weather-climate, safety, utilities-internet.

Reasoning: these are the SEO backbone and the pages agents will link buyers to. The membership sells what sits BEHIND them: updates, checklists, vendor names, community. Each category page gets a member callout block ("Members get the current vendor list + the step-by-step walkthrough") once membership is live.

static-site/faq/ (all 22 topic pages)

All 22 stay Free forever: banking, beauty-services, contractors, dentists, doctors, events-calendars, healthcare-insurance, home-services, immigration, internet, legal, markets, moving-services, other, pets, pharmacies, real-estate, restaurants, shopping, translators, transportation, utilities.

Same reasoning as categories: FAQ pages are long-tail search capture. Exception to plan for later: once the fb-group-archive pipeline produces named-provider answers, the provider-name layer of each FAQ goes Member-only while the generic answer stays free.

book/ (10 chapters, 00-09)

Asset Tier Notes
Chapters 00-09 (web versions) Member-only The full curated guide is the heart of the $399. The Amazon book stays the B2B agent tool; the web chapters are the maintained, updated consumer product
lead-magnet-revised.md Free (email-gated) Already a lead magnet by design
named-vendors.md Concierge-only Named vendor introductions with Annette's judgment attached are concierge value; a curated subset (the "vetted vendor list") surfaces to members and Digital Discovery buyers per product-lineup-v1

Other

Asset Tier Notes
Homepage, resources.html (incl. Troy Meadows listing), about, join, survey Free forever Funnel surfaces
Survey-personalized report (from survey capture) Member-only Currently a gap (below); the survey itself stays free
Vetted vendor list (curated, no negotiation notes) Member-only Per product-lineup-v1, also included in $297 Digital Discovery
Ava task execution, accompaniments, property checks, Annette calls Concierge-only Levels 4-7 of the ladder

Gaps: where $399 needs more value before launch

Ranked by build effort vs perceived value:

  1. Monthly "what changed in Ajijic" newsletter (promised in product-lineup-v1). Low effort, high renewal driver. Needs a repeatable sourcing routine from Friendly Gringos.
  2. Downloadable action templates: lease-agreement checklist, utility setup guide, IMSS enrollment walkthrough. Partial overlap with relocation-docs; 2-3 new templates needed.
  3. Quarterly live Q&A with Annette (Zoom). Zero build cost, calendar cost only. Strongest "access" justification for the price.
  4. Survey-personalized report: the survey already captures data; a generated "your situation" report is a wow moment. Medium effort.
  5. Vendor lists from the fb-group-archive pipeline: blocked on the pipeline running on real data. Do not promise until it exists.
  6. Community space (forum or Discord): deferred; product-lineup says "to be determined." Do not promise at launch; add as a year-1 upgrade.

Launch floor recommendation: chapters + relocation-doc tools + newsletter + quarterly Q&A is enough to defend $399. Items 4-6 are roadmap.

Indexing note

robots.txt and llms.txt were opened to SEO and AI crawlers on 2026-07-11. Member-only pages must NOT be crawlable once gated: serve them behind server-side auth (not client-side hiding), add noindex meta as a belt-and-suspenders, and exclude member paths from sitemap.xml. Free teaser versions remain indexed. Details in the Membership Platform Decision page.
