What this is: every open question in the book that only you can answer, in one place, phrased so you can just talk. Charlie can't research your own market knowledge, your own recommendations, or your own memories, no matter how good the web search is. This is that gap, closed into one document.

The 20-minute promise: these questions are grouped so a lot of them collapse into "talk for 60-90 seconds about a table" rather than "answer 90 separate trivia questions." Record a voice memo (phone Voice Memos app is fine) and go section by section, in order. Say "skip" out loud for anything you don't know or don't want to answer yet, and keep moving. Nothing here is graded. A rough number beats no number, and "I don't know, ask the group" is a completely valid answer for the items marked to crowd-source.

How to read a question card: each numbered question has a [QUICK] or [STORY] tag so you can budget your time, then a line underneath listing exactly which chapter and line number in the manuscript that answer maps to. You don't need to look anything up, that line is for Charlie's intake pass afterward. Just answer the question in the numbered line.

1. Rental prices, neighborhoods, and sub-locality character

This covers both the rental price table in §5.3 and the neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide in §5.1/§5.7, because they're really one question asked eight ways: what's it actually like, and what does it actually cost, in each of the eight Lakeside sub-localities?

  1. [STORY] Give me 2-3 sentences each, off the top of your head, on the vibe of: Chapala, Riberas del Pilar, San Antonio Tlayacapan, Ajijic Centro, La Floresta, West Ajijic (the hillside developments), San Juan Cosalá, and Jocotepec. 2. Household help, all-in costs, and the IMSS enrollment question

And does a typical Lakeside household-help arrangement usually include IMSS enrollment, or is that the exception? This is an employment-law fact question, not a healthcare recommendation, so answer it straight.

3. Water reliability by colonia

This one mostly got folded into section 1's neighborhood answers above (question 4). If you have anything more specific, flooding-prone streets, colonias where the water truck is a way of life rather than a backup, say it here.

4. Memory care facilities and eldercare, naming names

This is the most sensitive section, because it involves naming specific facilities. Stick to positive/neutral framing only, no negative claims about any named home (that's a hard rule, not a style preference).

This is about the town's character, not any person, so be as candid as you want.

7. The buyer's-agent referral and how to vet a Lakeside agent

9. Misc: personal anecdotes and small confirmations

These don't fit neatly into the 8 areas above but they're some of the highest-value items in the whole pack, they're the scenes that make the book sound like you instead of like a guidebook.

Intake procedure (for Charlie, next session)

Follow this without needing to re-read the plan doc:

  1. Transcribe first, always. If the answers arrive as an audio file, transcribe it locally (Whisper or similar) and save the raw transcript to research/annette-answers/2026-07-voice-memo-transcript.md before touching any chapter file. Raw answers should survive a session reset even if the fold-in work doesn't finish in one sitting.
  2. Work section by section. For each numbered question above, find her answer in the transcript, then open the tagged chapter file(s) at the listed line number(s) and replace the tag with her answer, written into the prose in her voice (contractions, no em-dashes, plainspoken). Delete the tag once it's resolved.
  3. One answer, many tags. Several questions (especially the sub-locality ones in section 1, and the rental-price-table one) map to many tag references at once. Fill every listed line, don't stop at the first one.
  4. Her personal recommendations get framed as personal recommendations. Anything from questions 17-25 (buyer's agent, notario, restaurants, memory-care campus) goes into the book as "I send people to..." or "the place I'd personally recommend is..." per the book's established insider-voice style, not as a neutral third-party claim.
  5. Restaurant and price answers get a freshness hedge. Restaurant endorsements and beauty/gym pricing should land in prose with a "current as of 2026" style hedge, since restaurants close and prices drift.
  6. Named facilities need one more check before they ship as fact. Anything from question 15-16 (memory-care campus names, secured-wing status) should be flagged with a note that a current on-the-ground confirmation is still needed before treating the name as settled, per the existing [VERIFY/INSIDER] rail in §7.9.
  7. Skip means skip. If she said "skip" on a question, leave that tag open and move to the next question, don't invent an answer to close it out.
  8. Recount when done. After folding in whatever she answered, re-run grep -n "\[INSIDER:" book/0*.md and grep -n "\[VERIFY:" book/0*.md, update the Count Summary table and change log in book/PUNCH-LIST.md with the new totals, and note how many of the 114 Bucket B items closed this pass.
  9. Crowd-sourced items don't get invented from the voice memo. If she skipped a question that's also covered by one of the two Friendly Gringos post drafts (posts-to-fg/2026-07-rentals-help-water.md, posts-to-fg/2026-07-restaurant-favorites.md), wait for the group thread instead of guessing.
